Italian rugby players will resume their Rugby World Cup training after discussion with Italian Rugby Federation (FIR) officials as both the party came to a resolution after a hard argument. Earlier the training was hampered as the squad refused to train. The spat was held overpayment and bonuses on their performance between federation presidents Alfredo Gavazzi and the squad. But in last week, when the Italian rugby players’ association (GIRA) delivered a strict statement disapproving the player’s declination to improve the exercise camp, the situation got worsened.
According to the Sunday report of FIR, it has been informed that both the parties have fixed their issues. They agreed to let Italy focus on the formulation of the group so that they can prepare to meet France, Ireland, Canada and Romania in Pool D of the competition. The statement stated,
The Italian Rugby Federation announces that, following a series of meetings in recent days, an agreement has been reached with the national squad to guarantee their return to training and preparing for the 2015 Rugby World Cup.
It has also mentioned that the agreement will certainly ensure that all players were titled up to a pre-season practice that was financially remunerated according to the recurrently underlined ideologies of the FIR. It has also added, the 40 Squadron players would arrive by 18th (Sunday) at the camp for their practice. The statement also said in confidence that they are hoping for a successful world Cup as the players have their full backings now.
The reports from last week has primarily revealed that players’ refused to join the camp for training on the programme date of June 14-July in the northern town of Villabassa until the conditions overpayment and bonus relating issues were not satisfied. A match-by-match gratuity was purportedly wanted by the Italian internationals in the place of a one-off recompense failed on players' performance that is desired by the Federation. Again the argument became highlighted on last Monday on the appeal of FIR mentioning players’ negation about turning up the training. But at the end GIRA disapproved the statement given by FIR as its account. According to the GIRA, the FIR statement was a confounding claim. It also confirmed that the players would be ready to turn up the training camp and would reside there until the end.
Due to the overall condition the training camp was called off, and players were asked to leave. Alfredo Gavazzi, the FIR president, admitted that he was disappointed about the athletes’ attitude that they showed at the start of the strike.
Now the Italy is looking forward to joining further practice encampments in L'Aquila (July 12-25) and then Fiuggi, near Rome (August 2-9) and the squad is currently under the drilling of the coach Frenchman Jacques Brunel. The unit is working to warm up for the World Cup with Tests that is ahead of them in counter to Scotland on (Aug 22 and Aug 29) in Turin and Edinburgh correspondingly, and against Wales (Sept 5) in Cardiff.
